GENERAL WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT

Safe Capture and Relocation

Safe Relocation And Release

DID YOU KNOW: Leopards are considered the most resilient of all large feline species.

Unfortunately, for African leopards, natural habitats and food sources are under threat due to increased land development and stock farmer conflict.

Saving Leopards:

Leopards found in problematic environments need to be carefully captured and moved to a safe habitat as quickly as possible. They then need to habituate to their new surroundings and their new home straight after release, to stop them from escaping and returning to the previous, unsafe habitat.

What is Needed:

  • Non-lethal trapping devices to ensure the safe capture and comfort of the leopard.
  • Pre-release enclosures especially designed with electric fencing and large enough for natural movement.

Current Contribution Goal: R700,000

TO EXPAND OUR IMPACT WE NEED:

  • R600,000 = 1 Pre-release Enclosure
  • R60,000 = 3 Non-lethal Trapping Devices
  • R40,000 = Feeding Leopards During Habituation
