Conserving Natural Resources
The environmental pillar of the Shamwari Foundation initiates projects that are focused on conserving natural resources integral to the success and survival of the local (and global) ecosystem. The employment of sustainable rehabilitation protocols and state-of-the-art resource management projects ensures the healthy distribution of our natural resources for generations to come. By remaining at the forefront of global environmental trends, the Shamwari Foundation looks to set the standard for South African environmental conservation.

Environment Conservation Projects
Thankfully, 2024 brought much-needed relief. With a semi-arid climate, periodic water scarcity and erratic rainfall, the Shamwari Foundation is actively involved in water conservation within the Reserve to sustain the diverse wildlife and ecosystems.
One of our ongoing challenges, especially in a drought prone region, is controlling alien vegetation. Non-native plants compete with indigenous flora, depleting water resources and altering soil composition and nutrients.
