Happy Guests

Thinking back on Shamwari, it provokes feelings of nostalgia. South Africa is a wonderful country with diverse wildlife and beauty in all its landscapes. Visiting Shamwari makes one realize how blessed we are to be so close to nature and experience the beauty of wildlife. Upon a morning game drive, wrapped in blankets shying away from the cold we saw the most amazing sighting of cheetahs in the mist. Cheetahs playing and chasing each other, giving us enough time to take memorable pictures. The most wonderful sighting making the cold and misty morning all worth it. A quote I love living by especially when visiting Shamwari is : “Expect nothing, appreciate everything”. Every moment in the bush is truly a magical moment.
We had the most awesome Magic Moment with a herd of elephants sighting! Our guide, Simon stopped the vehicle some distance from them. They made their way towards us in the beautiful evening light! It was magical! Then one of the youngest teenagers came up to us, had a good look at us , and then hurried off to her mother! I rate it as the best elephant sightings we have ever had! Ever! Thank you Shamwari!
What a Maaagic Moment it was to see a mother white rhino with her beautiful calf! We could see the care she had! Thank you Shamwari for conserving moments like this for us!
Sunrise in itself is a magical moment, but when you get to experience it lighting up the beautiful Long Lee Manor and landscape of Shamwari it becomes even more magical
Greetings Shamwari Game Reserve, It was a magic moment of excitement to be on our first game drive! Waiting to see what is around the next corner! Listening to the birds and smelling the flowers in Spring! We would LOVE to go back!

The Big 5 Safari Animals

The Big Five will certainly be a phrase you are familiar with, and even more so if you are a wildlife lover. This term was originally used as a hunting term in the 19th and early 20th century when professional hunters were set on getting as many trophies as possible in a short amount of time. It became a fad, where seasoned travellers would travel to Africa to shoot a massive, dangerous animal.
The Big Five thus became known as the most dangerous animals to hunt on foot. The term is still used today, and thankfully ‘shooting’ is now done through a camera lens.
