It was an incredibly hot February with temperatures often soaring above 40C, leading us to celebrate the evenings with the greatest safari tradition – Sundowners!!!
As you can see with my images – it is a great event and celebration at Explorer Camp to watch the African sun set with drinks in hand and feisty cheer on the top deck.
Walking has been very early in the mornings and the sightings of young animals have been exceptional.
Warthog piglets scamper through the long grass – often with some difficulty whilst the second calving of springbok have just been born on the reserve, and the latest giraffe youngster is just being introduced to the herd.
The variety of insects on walks has been incredible and always lends itself to some fascinating discussions whilst searching and tracking for the Big 5.
As summer slowly starts to wind down we can feel the nights are getting colder and the stars brighter – but that is another discussion entirely.
