The conservation levy funds are being channeled to the following conservation and community projects during 2023. Some of these projects include:
1. Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, where orphaned / injured animals are rehabilitated and released back into the wild.
2. Shamwari Anti-Poaching unit which costs Shamwari ZAR 6,5 million annually, these funds are spent on APU patrol vehicles, tracking dogs, drones and AI technology for the project of our wildlife and fence patrolling.
3. Community projects, our local staff at Shamwari have no primary health care facilities in the small towns of Paterson and Alicedale, where they come from. We will very soon be setting up a Meta Clinic medical facility at Shamwari which will provide primary health care to all Shamwari staff and dependents.
4. Water security, our local staff in the small towns of Paterson and Alicedale have no regular access to clean drinking water, some of the funds will be used to ensure a consistent supply / access to freshwater availability.
This conservation levy of ZAR 650 per person / R300 per child (04-11years) per night (inclusive of VAT) is applicable to all persons and charged on the final invoice to the guest to be settled on departure.
