For our guests, every day is a new adventure, immersed in our first class hospitality. In Shona, ‘Shamwari’ means ‘friend’ and staying true to our name, our guests leave as new friends of the Shamwari family. Each and every employee embodies Shamwari and believes in creating a memorable stay for our guests that is unforgettable
Upon arrival, our guests are served with a refreshing welcome drink before being taken to a delectable lunch. Thereafter, guests have some time to make themselves comfortable in their rooms before their afternoon activities commence. Afternoon tea is then provided where something sweet or savoury is available.
A bush pack is provided to guests in their rooms with a species checklist as well as some essentials for heading out on game drive, in search of animals. Whilst out in the bushveld, guests are treated to a spectacular sundowner on the plains of Shamwari with animals roaming in the distance where drinks and snacks are provided.
If the day appears to be a bit on the cooler side, blankets are provided for extra comfort as well as Shamwari bottled water to quench your thirst. Upon arriving back at the lodge, guests are greeted with a lovely warm towel to refresh and a drink of some sort. Back in the rooms, turn down has taken place for the evening and a delectable treat awaits you.
Before guests sit down to enjoy dinner in the dining room, they are able to try the alcoholic beverages on offer should it be a beer, wine or gin tasting that evening. On our barbeque evenings, we feature South African traditional culture with drumming and dancing from the local community.
If you are celebrating a special occasion, such as a birthday or an anniversary with your loved one, something extra special will be prepared just for you. Our extraordinary loyal customers that return a number of times to Shamwari are also treated to a special something.
Exploring the bush:
Our game drives are truly outstanding. Our rangers are filled with knowledge to provide our guests with the ultimate wildlife experience by traversing across the vast plains and valleys that is Shamwari. Time spent in search of wildlife, big and small, as well as showcasing the biodiversity of the flora and the bird life, reptiles, amphibians, and plenty of other species that call Shamwari home.
The rangers have a few tricks that they use to enhance the guests’ experience. One of these is strategically placing their game viewing vehicles to provide guests with the best photographic opportunities when viewing wildlife on game drive. Guests are wowed at the vast diversity and the teeming numbers of wildlife when out on safari.
Guided walks and night drives are activities that can be facilitated should they be requested, however this is also completely dependent on availability. This is an utterly different and exciting way to view wildlife as you tend to pay more attention to the smaller animals and tracks when going on a walking safari and the more elusive, nocturnal animals are fascinating to view at night.
