Shamwari Field Guide Training offers a 6 week course that mirrors the life of a field guide. It will impart essential knowledge, life skills and discipline needed to make a professional field guide.

The industry and especially field guiding is experience-based, but there are basic qualifications that you need to be a legal guide and that potential employers recognize. 

Shamwari Field Guide Training gives you the opportunity to obtain these requirements. They include FGASA (Field guide Association of Southern Africa) Level 1 theory and practical, THETA ( Tourism, Hospitality and Sport education Authority) TGSP level 2, First aid level 1, FGASA weapon handling and SASSETA 10750 shooting qualification.

The course also includes 4x4 driving skills and hospitality (guest etiquette, wine tasting etc), which are vital to enhance the safety and enjoyment of the bush experience for the guests.
